Founded in Denmark in 2002, Redspot initially set up WiFi hotspots in cafés, hotels, and private hospitals. They made a groundbreaking move as the first in Europe to provide outdoor WiFi in a major metropolitan area. This milestone took place in Aarhus, Denmark’s second-largest city, in collaboration with Hewlett Packard, Tiscali, and local businesses, including Magasin, offering free usage to the public.

After successfully establishing outdoor WiFi, Redspot expanded its services to provide wireless Internet access to individuals. In 2004, shifting its focus, Redspot entered the internet telephony market. Pioneering in Denmark, they were the first to introduce international Flat Rate plans, securing their position as a market leader.

Redspot’s VoIP services quickly gained recognition for their excellence. They were lauded as having the “Best sound quality and deal” by Politiken, a leading Danish newspaper, and named the “Best choice” by Penge & Privatøkonomi, Denmark’s top Money & Personal Finance magazine.

Redspot is the only Danish SIP trunk provider that does not charge call setup fees, which alone make up up to 30% of a phone bill and much more for users who make many very short calls.
